1. FIVE STRAND DUTCH BRAID

This one looks pretty intimidating but believe me, it took a novice like me about an hour to get a hang of it. I have been doing variations of this one forever now and it looks like you’re at Coachella everyday. Simple and effortless. As a variation of this style, you can start the braid pretty close to the hairline and then end it right at the nape of the neck. Then just tie your hair in a low ponytail. Click here for a full tutorial.

2. HALF UP HALF DOWN PULL THROUGH BRAID

This half up half down braid is one of the best braid hairstyles for date night or when your roots are oily/hair is dirty. I am not a frequent hair washer because I have super curly hair so braid styles like this save the day for me when I am running late and can’t be bothered with a more complicated style. I have also done two or three of these braids when I have a bit more time, each a different thickness. Click here for the full tutorial.

3. FRENCH BRAID BUN

This gorgeous date night hairstyle is extremely simple if you’re familiar with french braiding. Essentially, you start a french braid from one side and end it at the other side at the nape of your neck. From there, you roll up your hair in a bun and pin it in a place for an easy look! Put in some hair accessories like a gorgeous hair pin to polish up this look even further. Or you can pull out some loose strands from the bun and make it a bit laidback.

4. PULL THROUGH BRAID

This is my go to style when a pony tail becomes too boring. It’s a simple look, yes, but once you fluff out your braid, it gives you mermaid vibes and I love that it looks equally good on my medium length hair. Tip: Try following this tutorial with pigtails and it turns super glam. Click here for the full tutorial.

5. HIGH CROWN BRAID

Crown braids may have been made made popular by Coachella and the boho crowd but they have been one of the most preferred braid hairstyles for weddings and sophisticated events for a long time now. This high crown braid gives you a bit more dimension than a regular crown braid hairstyle, and I love it! I once wore this style for a wedding with a few flowers in my hair, it looked gorgeous. Click here for the full tutorial.

6. HALF UP BRAIDED CROWN

Now that we’re on the path of crown braids, let me tell you that these are amazing to quickly get your hair away from your face. If your ends are damaged and you are late for your hair appointment, crown braid hairstyles will still keep you look savvy. I love this half updo for those days when my roots are oily. 7. BOHO SIDE BRAID

If you have long hair, this is the perfect hairstyle for you but people with medium length hair can also rock this side braid equally well. The best thing about this braid hairstyle that I like is the fact that it looks more complicated that it actually is – people almost always ask me how I did my hair when I wear mine this way. 8. FAUX HAWK HALF UP BRAID

A friend of mine introduced me to this braid when I was quite conscious about my crown area becoming thinner with a lot of frizzy hair (high ponytails and their curse!). This style gives you a lot of crown volume and ends up looking super edgy. Just make sure you don’t tease your hair too much if you’re dealing with frizzy, damaged hair already. Instead, go for a root volumizing spray. Click here for the full tutorial.

9. REVERSE BRAIDED BUN

Tired of the simple bun? Try this reverse braided bun that is very stylish for both short and long hair. You can also try this reverse braided style when you have really short hair and are tying your hair at the top in a messy pony tail. Oh, and it looks gorgeous if you have subtle highlights in your hair. Click here for the full tutorial.

10. DOUBLE DUTCH BRAID BUNS

Put glitter in your hair or show off a zig zag part – no matter which Instagram hair trend you’re following these days, these double dutch buns are one of the easiest and quirkiest braid hairstyles you can try out. And they are so simple so no matter how lazy you are, you never have to wear boring hair again once you learn this style. Click here for full tutorial.

About to go to a party where you would be dancing all night long? While hair swishing about everywhere as you gyrate to music looks amazing in movies, it is a pain in reality and let’s not even talk about the tangles afterwards. These boxer braids keep your hairstyle looking clean and stylish, while being playfully feminine at the same time. Click here for the full tutorial.

12. MESSY PIGTAIL BRAID

Basic pigtails are for basic people and we’re not basic, we’re just lazy. This hairstyle gives you gorgeous and fluffy pigtails. It makes you look as if you have goddess hair (which, not sure about you, I don’t). Put some hair accessories in there and this becomes an amazing beach braid hairstyle. 13. CROSS MY HEART BRAID

Perfect for Valentine’s Day (or even a baby shower), this is a sweet hairstyle that looks good on all lengths of hair. If you can braid your hair, it would be an easy style to pull of or you can put hair extensions to some good use. You can make it look more complicated by adding a fishtail at the end. Click here for the full tutorial.

14. FLOWER BRAID

Simply learning how to make a rose flower using my hair and a simple three strand braid was a mindblowing moment for me. Ever since I’ve learnt this braid hairstyle, I’ve gotten into the habit of putting braided flowers in my hair every chance I get. Believe me, you will too.

15. KATNISS EVERDEEN BRAID

The braid that became as much a symbol of hope as the mockingjay is pretty simple to master and looks amazing. It’s also a great back to school hairstyle for the lazy girls out there. The Katniss braid is essentially a dutch braid. Click here for a full tutorial.

SIMPLE TIPS FOR ROCKING BRAIDS

While you’re rocking a braid, make sure you keep flyaways away by using a bit of hairspray and a toothbrush on your frizzy areas. Braids are also great for getting overnight waves in your hair. At the same time, if you’re straightened your hair, stay away from overnight braid hairstyles. Use a leave in conditioner or oil on the ends of your hair to keep them looking smooth when you braid your hair.
